Apparently, this one only supports EPSG:4326 (i.e. lat/lon), so no point
trying to play with the server projection.

This is the way the image is due to its projection.

To avoid (as much as possible) projection issues, remember you can always
right-click on the map layer in the dock and select "Set view projection to
layer's". That will make the Merkaartor projection the same as the
background image.
