Its new to me but not inscrutable The meaning of "Gedanken" is "thoughts"; however "Gedenken" is roughly equivalent to the word "memorial" when used like in "memorial service". The german word for "thanks" is "Danke". Hope I'm not being too much of a smartass....;-) Martin
