It seems pretty simple. The fear that which they do not understand,
and most items in this realm are not easily understood by the unwashed
masses of pointy hairs. I really believe you'd be lucky to find a lot of
ppl that are familiar with items like GIMPS, RC5/DES cracking, SETI, OGR,
etc... I discovered distributed.net in someone's signature file 15 months
ago, and took a look. Now I'm working on RC5 & Mersenne Primes. I've
convinced some other friends to work on it, but the press these kinds of
projects receive, when they do, is rarely positive.
