This is rather odd, and likely specific to my situation.  When I'm running the
Linux binary on my Linux machine, this is what top says:

 2181 bryanf    20  19  4092 4092   428 R N     0 49.2  8.6  3559m mprime

So yep, that's ~4Mb of memory (and only 1/2 the cpu - I'm running rc5 too ;).

On my FreeBSD 3.0-R box, running the same binary in Linux compatability mode,
this is what top says:

 1088 bryanf   105  20 17996K  1260K RUN    119:09 30.82% 30.82% mprime

17Mb of memory used (though only 1.2Mb resident).  Strange, neh?  In this
case, I'm glad I've got 64Mb of memory, especially since X is using 12Mb.
