Fewer people are confused than you think.  

I would not take *anyone's* word that "there _are_no_drawbacks_" without completely 
convincing test data showing that under a variety of conditions, performance is 
*identical* with and without executable compression.

And personally, for a savings of a few hundred K, IT'S NOT WORTH IT to do that testing.

Rest assured that if the executable does end up being compressed in the general 
release, many users will either refuse to upgrade or will specifically uncompress it 
to restore the status quo.
