Related to the original message, I ended up sending a test
program to Daryll. I have not heard from him since, so 
I guess he is pretty busy with many issues...
(it was about two weeks ago)

my test prog did glReadPixels. When I tested it the
problem only appeared on my Voodoo2, not on Voodoo(1).

These both were with the win95 glide.

Also, intrestingly  the program first works ok, and starts failing
after a call to glutBitmapCharacter (glBitmap) is done.
