Category: None Group: None Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Ciaran Farrell (babelworx) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Mesa contains (unused) GPL file Initial Comment: Mesa/src/mesa/drivers/directfb/idirectfbgl_mesa.c is a GPL file which doesn't seem to be used anywhere (at least, removing it from the spec file does not have any influence on the build). Maybe it would be an idea to remove it completely? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2007-01-29 01:02 Message: Logged In: NO The drivers aren't causing any harm per se, but they do cause hassle for distributors who want to keep GPL code out of Mesa. In fact, the problem normally doesn't arise with Mesa itself, but rather with packages which rely on Mesa or use some of its code, such as compiz. I'll resubmit this bug on freedesktop.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Brian Paul (brianp) Date: 2007-01-27 09:59 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=983 Originator: NO That's not the only GPL driver in Mesa (allegro, ggi and svga are others). None of those drivers have been maintained in recent years and could probably be removed. But on the other hand, they're not causing any harm so I'd just as soon leave the files as-is. BTW, this bug database is no longer used. Please use Bugzilla on freedesktop.org in the future. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100003&aid=1641444&group_id=3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
