AFAIK you have both options with scons. Command line, e.g. scons
dri=1, or file, by writing "dri=1" on a file. (You also have a third
option which is to generate such config file from the command line
with one liner...)

No, never heard. Thanks for the link. It seems fairly similar to
scons. At least it is difficult by looking to the different
(http://code.google.com/p/waf/wiki/WafAndOtherBuildSystems) to tell
which seems the best. Anyway, I have already one proof of concept with
Scons and so much time to spare on this, so I'll pursue the scons a
bit more until I find a reason to evaluate wax. But it's nice to know
there's more out there. And so far using Python seems really useful.
