I don't have a small example of that demonstrates this problem. But: 

I might have the cause of the problem though: clip_span() gets called and
setups the correct 'mask'. The problem however is that this mask is not passed
to:

rb->PutValues(ctx, rb, count, x, y, zbuffer, NULL); 

(NULL is the mask parameter)
