It's going to be able difficult to come to agreement about every single aspect of the design (see: bikeshedding [1]), but the consensus seems to be that capitalization is OK, and for the most part the modified M with the current font looks fine.
I'd like to run with this for now, given the number of community-related changes we have outstanding and the limited availability of myself and the logo designer who has moved onto other projects. To address Tobi's concern about using the text standalone, at this time I think we should always use the mark and text together since that's what we originally voted on and they were designed as a single unit. Maybe once we launch the refreshed website design and get some public feedback on the logo, we can revisit all of this and explore font alternatives or other changes as we see fit. For now, let's run with what we have.
