Because the kirkstone branch is often outdated when it comes to the latest Intel hardware, while customers want the stability that comes with the LTS Yocto versions for everything else. I don’t understand why LAYERSERIES_COMPAT_core should be prevented from use, we rely heavily on it to support multiple versions concurrently in the same meta layer.
