Thanks Scott.
The problem was that I had unintentionally set the textStyle of the
field itself to "group". Unlike other styles, this has no effect on
the text in the field. (I guess that makes sense.) However, when
setting the textstyle of a chunk of text in such a field to "group"
nothing gets changed. Removing the "group" style from the field
solved my problem.
Happy again.
BTW, I stumbled into this while looking for a way to determine
whether the mouse is over the text in a field (including spaces) and
not over the empty part of the field to the right of the text. My
idea was to use the mouseText function, but this normally returns
empty when over a space between words. Thus the idea to apply the
group style to all the text in the field. It seems to work (now that
I've resolved the style problem), but I was wondering if there was a
more obvious way to do what I want.
