Actually, it need not be an external. As Tuviah reminded us in his
posts, one of the cool things about MC is that one can easily reuse
complex native MC objects:
>The MetaCard Report Generator Supports all the above, and does have full
>page layout facilities. It even has an API to include these features into
>your application transparently. Problem is it clips text, but I'm sure
>once that is fixed it will get plenty of use:-)
Tuviah, could you take the last line off as a safety zone? I did this on
a recent project, and while it does in some cases leave a little more
white space than one might prefer, at least it has thus far survived
testing without clipped text drawing (it's still early in the testing
cycle, though <g>).
It would be cool if there was at least a standard component out there
which would serve this need, and it seems Tuviah has done a great service
in taking the issue as far as he has.
If Tuvia's component is overkill for that kind of job, I'm sure someone
could craft a simpler version, which coulod even approximate the
HyperCard syntax for Print Field....
Speaking of: Some time ago Tuviah posted an invitation to adopt a set of
de facto standards for making MC components. I like the idea very much -
is there a document describing this available on the Web?
