We've recently had the opportunity to work with Rinaldi to track some
of these problems down. As it turns out, there are quite a few
undocumented behaviors of the callback functions in HyperCard that his
XCMDs rely on. He's been very helpful in helping us figure out what
these are and in improving MetaCard's compatibility in this area.
There still be some restrictions on their use (e.g., you'll usually
have to pass full paths with : separators rather than just filenames
to those XCMDs that work on files), but a lot more of them should work
with 2.3 than work with 2.2.X.
