Not really. As a MACR user myself, believe me, they change standards
almost as often as MicroSlime does. (Which is twice as often, of course,
as Bill changes his shorts. ;)

What I mean is that Flash versions, from release to release, change --
drastically -- certainly on the UI side and probably on the playback
side too, at least to some extent.

So, given the hurtling rev cycle MACR apparently thinks is perfectly
kosher -- the current Director's Flash plugin doesn't even support the
current Flash file format, by the way -- I don't think it would be a hot
idea for MC to try to get too involved keeping track of a product that
changes too fast to be stable.

I'd rather MC kept its focus on making a stable and consistent
multiplatform engine than try to get too tangled in handling bizarre and
arbitrary decisions made by a company which, increasingly, is falling
out of touch with its expert users.

As Scott mentioned some flavors are supported, and the Flash *player*
source is open. You can DL the source from macromedia.com (someplace)
any time you want. This would permit something like an external tool or
plugin to be created, but there would still have to be provision for the
fact that Flash changes *lots* from full digit version to version.

Also FL3 and 4 both support no small amount of interactivity via code,
either through JavaScript or MACR's Director language, Lingo -- and
*those* interfaces have changed and expanded as well; I'm not sure
whether MC could be bent enough to handle thst kind of processing and,
if so, whether such processing would be consistent enough over time to
warrant the attempt.
