Word would be a better example--Acrobat can work as a helper, but Adobe
also offers an Acrobat plugin that _does_ work in a browser window. A
link on a web page to a Word file causes the browser to download the
file, and then have Word open the file. The same is true for Excel.
MetaCard works like Word or Excel.

You can download text AND images off the web into a MetaCard stack, but
you're right that it doesn't work the way a browser does.

With this I definitely agree. I spent several months trying to decide
whether to get MetaCard. I was coming from SuperCard. I finally took the
plunge, without having reached certainty. Now, several months later, I
know it was the right choice, but I couldn't have decided that without
making the commitment and starting the conversion process. You can start
this with the demo, but I would suggest checking the specs, and if they
meet your requirements, go for it.
