Hi , and a happy New Year to everyone

Some Windows interface questions:

Setting the mnemonic proprty of a button to an integer causes that
character to be underlined in the button label. Pressing alt + that
character sends a mouseUp to the button. However, I notice that in
some (most?) circumstances, the alt key is not required with regular
buttons. Simply pressing the character key will cause the button to
react.

My first question is whether this is the intended behavior. (I notice
in most Windows menus with underlined shortcuts, the alt key is
required to drop down the menu, but subsequent shortcuts can be
accessed without the alt key.)

If it is the intended behavior, is there a way to require the alt key
to be pressed to activate the shortcut?

And a final point, is there a way to add underlined shortcuts to
tabbed button menus? Using "&" with the button contents works for
pulldown menus but not tabbed buttons.

All help and hints appreciated.

Cheers
Dave Cragg
