Not that I can think of.  While a mouse button is down the control it
went down in has a "grab" on it, and so you won't get any other
messages (like mouseLeave) or mouse messages sent to other objects.
You might be able to fake this by getting "the mouseLoc" and "the
mouse" in a repeat loop (polling), but using "send .. in" is the
proper way to implement this kind of thing.
