Well certain key system things may be required at start up e.g. proxySetting
to log onto the internet being a critical component. If you choose a
"standalone" strategy, you will not be able to write this information back
to the stack on any platform except a MAC. At least that is our current
understanding.
Yes, certainly stacks will contain most needed info. But it appears for the
proxySetting I have to save it as an external pref if we want the user to be
able to boot an .exe file and start to download stuff from the net.
