For my own, i use Metacard to build TCP/IP applications and databases
servers, just alike some others use IBM WebSphere, Versata, MS Visual
Interdev, Omnis Studio or Apple WebObjects to do this kind of job. You
can see one of the projects i'm working on, still under construction, at
<http://cyb.cndp.fr/>.
There is, over the world, only six softs able to produce, automatically
and 24 hours/day, crosswords girds for commercial publishing needs. One
of those tools, first developped in Hypertalk will be converted to MC in
the next months to be suitable on linux clustered servers.

The printstack tool is still avalaible and, if needed, it's very simple
to adapt the scripts to specific tasks. As an exemple, i use a SuperCard
stack to edit and print postscript libraries barcodes. The same and more
can be do using MC.
Ask Scott Raney.
Hypercard, Supercard or Metacard are not technically different tools. A
good XTalk developper will jump from one to the other in 15 days. If
Metacard is still the very best of them, it's probably because it's able
to get the best from unixes where macos stay a good but desktop
dedicaced operating system.
