The only > examples I can see are those of palettes. do you mean it worked like this: If you topLevel the stack and choose a paint tool you could, for example draw an oval, but then the problem was it was "stuck" in the oval tool and there was no way to get back to the browse tool? i.e. the tool tip remained cross hairs? > Is it possible to do this? I think you could trap the mouseUp to switch to browse tool again. i.e. choose a tool, use it, with mouseDown, but if the user let's his mouseUp, he pops back to the browse tool, they select another tool. Counter intuitive since remaining in a tool is more standard behaviour but doable. . . but why do you need it in the same stack/window? Isn't the "palette of tools" paradigm a pretty universal UI for this kind of thing?
