Anyone notice how long this thread has become? ;)
More importantly, this may be a healthy wake-up call for all of us:
There are other cultures out there,
and not all of them speak English.
Inherent with the dawning of this Internet Age is a new internationalism,
one that's unavoidable since the core technology that brings us all together
is valuable primarily in its ability to span the globe instantly. If you
wanna play in the global space, you gotta think about multiple languages.
And if you're on the Internet, you're in global space.
Since we Americans generally don't speak as many languages as our European
counterparts commonly do, I recognize that it is inconvenient to
copy-n-paste posts into a translator Web site to see if it's something we
can help with. But really, that's a fairly minor inconvenience (ever
translate a post in the olden days before we has such sites?), and if it's
too much trouble just don't worry about it.
But I would plea with my US homies on this list to politely accept
non-English posts whenever they occur. The poster understands that an
English post will likely garner more replies, but if they choose to write in
their primary language I don't have a problem with it. It just reminds me
how behind-the-times I am with my English-only Web site; so many markets I'm
missing....
Maybe this is a good opportunity to bring this back on-topic:
How many of you are getting requests for localized versions of your
MC/Rev-based software? How do you approach localization with a tool like
MetaCard where we commonly embed user feedback directly in the code (the ask
and answer commands for example)?
