This represents two separate issues.
Neither of these sound like bugs to me, they are just a by-product of how Tiger works. The engine uses native OS open and save dialogs, so whatever the OS provides is what you get.
1. MC IDE bug: That Open Stack in MC 2.7 on Mac OSX 10.4.7 does not allow me to use the column view to drill upward thru the levels to find something. I must use the Option button above the column windows to drill upward. I tested this with the Rev IDE and the column views work properly. I can properly drill upward with the Rev IDE.
I'm not sure what the difference is, unless you are running the older copy of MC on an older OS. The MC IDE is just calling a plain old "open" dialog, just as the Rev IDE does. I just tried it on my Mac, and both IDEs allow me to scan left through all columns identically, so I'm not seeing the issue here. Note that non-admin accounts can't "see" any farther up than the user folder, but I doubt that's what is happening in your case.
2. IDE or ENGINE bug: That Open Stack in MC 2.7 cannot find the most recent project opened once it has been renamed, which was a feature that used to work okey dokey in MC. I also tried with the Rev IDE as I know that I at least opened the project in Rev a couple times. Same thing. So this may be an engine issue or it may be an IDE issue. Dunno which.
This sounds like expected behavior too, also related to the OS. Tiger usually "remembers" the last folder opened by an app and tries to return there. If the folder is no longer available, it goes to a default which in Rev's case is the current defaultfolder.
