Hi Everyone,

It's been pointed out that the seller on eBay has committed fraud in the past and been caught red handed. The sad thing is how many people continue to buy from him.

Looks like he is still up to his old tricks. Wonder how many traded or sold specimens are out there and are not legitimate from this source? I wonder how many collections are contaminated.

I wonder what the vendor had to say? I'd be unhappy if this was a number I was selling. What did they have to say?

Anne,

I spotted the fake on eBay and alerted everyone on FB. Through a team effort, the seller removed the listing and said that they would, "send it off for analysis".

Fortunately, no one bought this stone. Frustrating none the less ...

Not sure what you are referring to regarding the wrong email, but at least we stopped this from becoming a big issue, though one that will likely not go away.

Subject: [meteorite-list] Now I know...................

I always thought this would happen someday...........

All it takes is one email, an email sent to the wrong person, meaning:
to a person who knows how to use an IP address, that unique number
assigned to each and every computer, to trace that email back to the
sender, and discover that the sender lives in Romeoville, Illinois.

Just like that seller on Ebay:

You want to know more about that seller, go to the Archives of the
MetList, http://www.meteorite-list-archives.com/  and do a search, you
could start with "Zulu Queen" or "McCartney Taylor".

Enjoy.
