He writes, that the crater walls sank down, are much lower now and the bottom of the crater is almost totally silted up. The water inside is only a couple of inches deep. So the initial objective not to look for meteoritic material, but to preserve the crater instead, failed. All tourist/scientific projects will have a commemorative character.
