This area of the state was home to many late-19th/early 20th-century zinc/lead mines. A major waste byproduct of that mining was marcasite (a pyrite polymorph). Roasters were used to separate the iron sulfides from the zinc sulfides, so there will be quite a bit of low-grade, iron-rich slag out in the field.

Those that know meteorites won't be confused for a second. But I'd guess we'll see a lot more of these "wrongs" before we're done.
