       "Management is doing things right;
leadership is doing the right things."

                            - Peter Drucker

This is a short issue, been real busy finishing up "Phase
One" of a new web site. It's not "my" site, but I am its author.
If you are curious you may want a peek at it and if
you are in the field of emergency medicine you may find it

Super Juke Boxes!

http://riohome.com
* I don't know if these new super jukeboxes are a result of
the attention generated by the napster issue, but these
walkman like boxes are anything but walkmen - and they are
popping up everywhere. One of the newest models by Creative
Technology holds 150 CD's of MP3 music, that's 6 gig of
storage - put that in a cool looking case and a nice user
interface and you have something called NOMAD. I'm sure by
Christmas the market will be flooded by these are so will
Manta's bag.

*Free software banishes web printing problems
Press Release: San Francisco, Calif. September 2000 -
http://www.fineprint.com

FinePrint Web gives users unprecedented control over printing
from browsers and Adobe Acrobat, saving time, money, and trees.

FinePrint Software is releasing FinePrint Web, an easy-to-use
printer driver that delivers unparalleled formatting, layout,
and printing capabilities to every web user-for free.

With FinePrint Web, users can collect, rearrange, reformat, and
save web print jobs. By deleting selected pages, controlling
pagination, and customizing information density as desired, users
create printouts that work for them. FinePrint Web saves money on
paper and toner, transportation and storage costs, and time and
hassles in managing print jobs. Since it is ad-supported, it is
totally free.

How FinePrint Web fixes web printing problems. FinePrint Web can
print 2, 4, or 8 pages on a single sheet of paper, saving time,
money, and trees.

Users can opt to eliminate bitmaps to speed printing and save ink.
Thanks to the preview function, its simple to detect widow pages
and discover printing problems with web pages that use frames.
Users can delete unwanted pages with a mouse click. The page scaling
feature lets users control page breaks to avoid inconvenient truncation
in printouts. With FinePrint Web, it s easy to create documents
assembled from a variety of websites by deferring, collecting, and
rearranging printouts of selected pages, saving them for subsequent
editing or emailing to a colleague, and printing them out as a booklet
or other formats. Pages can be copied to the clipboard and used in other applications.

FinePrint Web works seamlessly with Netscape, Internet Explorer, and
Opera browsers as well as Adobe Acrobat, delivering new levels of
control and customization to every web user. The printing, publishing,
and information industries are moving away from the old
print-and-distribute model.

FinePrint Web makes the most of the new distribute-and-print approach by
enabling users to create exactly the kind of printouts they want.

_____ Five Immutable Laws of Work _________________________

The first 90% of project takes 90% of your time;
the last 10% takes the other 90% of your time.
If you can't get your work done in the first 24 hours, work nights.
If it wasn't for the last minute, nothing would get done.
Getting the job done is no excuse for not following the rules.
No matter how much you do, you never do enough.

* "Currently using Day-Timer, which fits needs perfectly, except
the database is fragile and I keep dropping or duplicating
appointments. For 20 dog walkers, this can be a real problem.
Need something that can handle 20-30 people scheduled from
single site, lots of repetitive activity."
