Pretty close Lou,
You can use the ">" option to redirect the output from the 'dir' command to a
file:
dir > c:\junk\filename.txt
will dump the results of the dir command for the current directory to the
text fie specified. then you can do whatever you want with that file. You
can also see other options for the 'dir' command by typing in:
dir /?
at the command line. You don't need to reboot, just open a DOS window on
your Windows box.
Best of luck with the tool library, we don't have anything like that to share
