Jon,

I too, tired of Edit +'s many "features". For the last year, I've been using TextPad from Helios Software (via FTP). It supports long filenames, has configurable syntax highlighting, and a macro capability (which I haven't had occasion to use.....yet).  Best of all, it was (best I can remember) about $35.00 - I swear by it (no longer forced to swear AT Edit +).

Jon,

You can get Programmers File Editor from   http://www.lancs.ac.uk/people/cpaap/pfe/

It's free and supports long file names.

I haven't used it very much, being more familiar with EditPlus, but it looks good.

Well, if no one else will go first, I guess I will.  I am not particularly fond of Edit Plus, mostly due to the fact that it will not recognize extended file names.  Any suggestions on a cheap if not FREE text editor program that will let me use extended file names and is simple to use?

Thanks for your imput.
Jon
