John-

Usually this is a result of one of two things:
 - the software was installed incorrectly.  Delete the installation and reinstall SmartCAM while logged in as the user, NOT as the administrator.  Differences in pathing and permissions often cause this error.

 - the "temp" environment variable is not set.  Go to Control Panel - System - Environment tab.  Is the temp variable set?  Does it point to a valid location (available drive space, full read/write permissions, etc)?  This variable can (and often will) be defined differently (or not at all) for different accounts, especially between admin and general users.

Double check these things.  SmartCAM definitely does not like to be installed by the admin account and then run by a different user account.

We have a customer that has the following "fatal error" ( see attached .jpg) when starting his SmartCAM A3D.He was running fine on NT, then one day this show's up. He said nothing else was installed on that computer. We had him reinstall over the same location and the same thing, then we tried another drive and another directory name (sm11 not sm9), same results. He did install on another computer and it runs.Any help would appreciated  10010:the step list format file has a fatal error in it cannot continue
