I don't work with the .jof files much and have never had a need to but, wouldnt
it be possible to
place a variable in the .jof file that indicates a text file to be printed? The
detailed instruction
could be written to the text file and when posting the file, retrieve the text
file and print it at the
top of the listing.
Like I say, I have never tried this and don't even know if it is possible but it
seems to me the
40 chr string could be used as a pointer.

I agree with you whole-heartedly! But after 10 years of using SmartCAM, I
have not found a reliable way of placing all the needed operator
instructions WITHIN the PM4 file (a question that I have over the years in
this forum and to Point Control/SDRC).
We do VERY short runs of very expensive nuclear components and cannot afford
to have ANY communication slip-ups between Mfg. Eng. and the shop floor
across two shifts. If you come up with anything, please let me know. Sorry I
couldn't be of more help.

I've always thought I should be able to place all my program notes to the
operator in my shape file. So I finally tried this today using the job notes
section in the planner, and it will only output 40 characters. Is there a
way
around this? Also, I used to have version 8.0 manuals (which I can't find)
that
had the definitions of all these errors. I can't find them in the SC online
manual, is there someplace else I can get them.
