My boss is Fred Lauzus, who is a frequent contributor here.

The macros we use get a little messy because they involve CTK panels, call other macros or shell to a VB program which writes another macro then return and execute that macro.

Fred wrote one that actually max’ed out the tokens available in the CTK panel. It was based on the two methods by used by drafting to depict a specific part. On the very next job to come through, some draftsman found a third way to do it!!!

When we hit a part that just does not fit one of our macros, we run one anyway. That way the tools and planner get populated with most of what we need. Then we wipe out the shape and draw it in manually. Of course if there are many like that, we make a quick & dirty macro to handle them.

Recently had to convert 500 programs to a different machine. Even with a macro to renumber the tools and set the SMF/TMP files it took two of us 2 days to convert them. Reprinting took the most time. Three days later they change them to a 3rd machine! Why plan when you can watch programmers jump through hoops?
