Jon,

Some of the template upgrades may work for you (I did'nt try them yet). But
I have run into the same situation. To work around it I just moved ahead in
the geometry and put in another Feed Change to return it to my original
feedrate on the last element.

Another trick I learned was to actually use an evaluation instead of direct
change. For example using the Feed change option in SC all you can input is
a number like 70 IPM. But since I use the same file to generate programs
for IPR as well as IPM (depending on machine) and I can change my feed rate
in my planner and all Feed changes I put in will be proportional, I use an
evaluation like #FEED=(#FEED*2). Following your example I would set my
planner to 40 IPM and then insert a Feed change for 70, then go back and
modify the Feed change element to read #FEED=(#FEED*1.75) (instead of
#FEED=70.), then at the end of that profile insert another feed change and
modify it to #FEED=(#FEED*.57)

Subject: [mfg-smartcam] Milling question.

I use Freeform, but this applies to all of the milling modules. When I use
Create-Machine Event-Feed Change to modify a feed rate it works just fine,
however from that point in the model forward, it keeps that feed rate. On a
part I was just surfacing, I want the first cut to go slower since it is
taking a full bite, but then each step over is only .005 so I want that to
go faster. What I did, was slow my feed in the jos to 40ipm and after the
first element, bump it to F70.0 ipm in the feed change. Then when I pull
out of that surface, and start another one with the same tool-step, I would
think it would update upon the down feed and profile start, however it
doesn't. It keeps the 70ipm rating and runs with it.
So, is this a .tmp problem? or a .smf problem, or just one of those things.
I am sending my .tmp file along so you can see what I am doing in there too.
Thanks for any help.
