Bob,
I've talked to alot of tooling vendors about plunge roughing. It looks like
that's the way to go, especially if you have a 40 taper machine. All
stresses go up the spindle axially rather than radially. This creates a
better cut and allows higher feedrates. I haven't found a macro for this
type of application for SC FreeFrom 11.5. Does anyone have one?
Thanks,
Mike Deren

Does anybody use plunge roughing? Is it any better than a spiral out
type roughing move?
Alsodoes anybode remember a plunge roughing macro that dale poisel made
a number of years ago? It wouold rough out a closed profile with drill
motions. If plunge roughing is better in your opinions I would like to
try the macro.

Thanks
bob
