Bob, I've talked to alot of tooling vendors about plunge roughing. It looks like that's the way to go, especially if you have a 40 taper machine. All stresses go up the spindle axially rather than radially. This creates a better cut and allows higher feedrates. I haven't found a macro for this type of application for SC FreeFrom 11.5.
