Look at the attached sample SAMPLE.pm4 PMill V11.5 file.
Hopefully it clear things up for you.
If you do a SHOW CUT, set STOCK layer=1
and FIXTURE layer=5.

Try putting a point rapid at the beginning of the profile above the level of
the stock.

Michael,

Thanks, but I'm afraid that I'm not understanding.
If I set the PT to the same value as the CZ, and then the ZL to the same as
the PT, all three will be the same.
How can this possibly work?

You have your Profile Top (PT) set to the same amount
as your Clear Z (CZ) on the profile you're about to mill.

Set your PT to be the same as your Z Level (ZL) for the
profile you're going to mill.

This way when SC looks ahead
to the profile you want to mill from the profile you've
just finished milling, it will retract to the CZ, rapid
move to the start of the next profile, then rapid down
to the PT of that profile which is the same as the ZL and
then it will start to mill that profile.

I guess this can be considered a beginner's pmill question:

During show path & show cut, milling tools are shown with a rapid move to
the start point of the profile at the z level, not at the clearance plane.
When they reach the start point, a rapid move up to the clearance plane is
shown followed by a feed move back down to the z level. Clearance and
profile top are turned on for all profiles.

This does not happen with hole operations, such as drilling. The drill is
shown with a rapid move to the hole at the clearance plane.

What could I be doing wrong and how can I view an accurate representation?
