Jeff,
You are missing the SmartCAM Localization tool Kit (SLK), which contains the
Application Resource Editor (ARE). This utility was intended to allow third
parties to translate SmartCAM into different languages. Prior to the
discontinuance of tech support for SmartCAM by SDRC, the SLK was not readily
available, even to resellers, due to the potential tech support nightmare it
could create. I attained a copy from a reseller (with SDRC's permission)
with the understanding that I would never, NEVER, EVER ask any support
questions even remotely related to the SLK. This point is now moot since EDS
(who bought SDRC) provides no technical support for any SmartCAM questions.
This utility will not enable you to "add" anything to the "Add Process Step"
or other dialogs, but it would allow you to change the existing strings
within. In your case you could change the "Op Type" of "Edge Milling" to
"Thread Milling". The ARE does this by making a modified copy of the
applications Binary Resource Configuration (BRC) file. Then using the ARE
you can replace one string with another.
I would not recommend it's use to anyone but experienced power users.
I would like to post it to the group, or perhaps on SmartCAM Mike's web
site, but I will need an OK from EDS first since it is copyrighted material.

Subject: [mfg-smartcam] Add Process Step
My question is in the Job Plan / Add Process Step / Milling Operations.
In the Operation Type and Tool Type I would like to add Thread Milling.
I've editted the m_inch.def, mautodsc.fmt, mautoid.fmt and just about every
file
I could find that pertains to the steps but it still doesn't show up when I
open SC.
Can this be done? What am I missing?
