Thanks for the suggestion, but that won't work because my groove is defined as a single element, I assume that you define your grooves as multiple elements. It just seems that there should be a simpler way than having to define a single groove as multiple groove elements and calculating the step over needed.
I tried setting the anchor point at the right hand edge, and the groove width as a minus value, but it still cuts the groove from left to right.
I did find an option in the .smf that lets you start the groove in the center and work out to each edge(question #200), but that is not quite what I want to do.

we do a lot of grooving, just group the geometry in the order you want the
cuts
and seq. move with by select order.
