Thanks for the suggestion. At this point not liking the suggestion is still better then stumbling along with what I got. I'll pass this e-mail onto my IT guy and see what he thinks. Thanks again.

Michael,
This problem has been seen in here many times. At one point it seemed too be centered around dell computers. I don't know if that is what you are running or not but the only way I was able to solve this problem, which you are probably not going to like, was to do a total clean reinstall of win2k. Then BEFORE putting any drivers or any other software install SmartCam then continue on with the rest of driver installs and so fourth. I was able to fix the problem this way and it has run perfectly ever since. Just as a note we have twin dell machines and my other cad person did a reinstall to fix his problems but he did not install Smartcam before all the other drivers and he is still dealing with the lock ups on keep defaults. I know this may sound like a pain but it is worth it in the long run I promise.

We run SmartCAM using Windows 2000 Professional version as the operating system.
I've been experiencing a problem with SmartCAM for the last couple of weeks The problem is as follows. I open a .pm4 file. Make a change to the process model so that "Modified" word shows up on the blue task bar at the very top of the graphics window.
Now lets say I decide that I want to do something like merge another .pm4 file before I do a File Save or Save As. This is where the warning box should appear with the following message, "Process model has been modified. Do you want to say the changes?" Yes No Cancel With the operative word here being should because on my PC that warning box does not appear and what ever I had done to the process model to that point is automatically saved. Then to make matters worse, the graphics window is locked out. I cannot use the mouse to pick anything. I can still use the key stokes like ALT File, Save but no mousing period. My only option is to ALT File, Exit SmartCAM and reload it. Now everything has reset itself and is working fine. It will remain that way only if I do a File Save or Save AS before I do any FILE operation.
So I had our IT guy in and we did a complete reinstall today. The reinstall did not work. Same thing no warning box. Automatic save and lock out the window. Next he rebuilt my PROFILE for my PC. The profile is where all the settings are placed for the various software packages you use. I'm still very vague on what and how a profile works and trying to follow IT guy did not make me any wiser about profiles. Anyway my profile is rebuilt. Now I open SC and it WORKS!!!....until I did my very first FILES KEEP DEFAULTS for the Display Modes panel. Same thing all over again. No warning box to Keep the Defaults for that panel...and no warning box when I do any of the File Open, Save, Merge or Save As operations with a modified process model.
It looks like according to our IT guy that maybe SC is writing to registry in my profile. Does that sound like possible?
Any ideas or suggestions are very welcome.
The other seat of SC is running fine on the other PC.
