Subject: [mfg-smartcam] What's the "G" stand for?

Hi all,
Maybe this is simple, or maybe we will have some fun with it.
I was just asked this question:
What does the "G" stand for in g-code? After 25 years in the business, I couldn't answer! I can make some educated guesses, but I have never heard the real definition.
So... what's the "G" stand for?
