It is possible. Here is my procedure for tracing the paths. You should be
able to spot the problem along the way. Look for spelling and syntax errors
in the paths.

First make sure of the location of your "smartcam.ini" file. It should be in
your windows folder. If there is one in your C:\Sm9\System folder, it will
take precedence over the one in your windows folder.

Open your smartcam.ini file in a text editor and find the "[Defaults]"
section.

In the [Defaults] section find the "CFGPath" setting.

        i.e. CFGPath=C:\Sm9CFG\HOME

Close the smartcam.ini file

In the folder specified in the CFGPath, find the file "amill.ini".

Open your amill.ini file in a text editor and find the "[Inch]" section.

In the [Inch] section find the "AutoId" setting.

        i.e. AutoId=C:\Sm9\MILL\JOSDEF\MAUTOID.FMT

Verify that the path is indeed correct to the specified file.

Find the "[Metric]" section.

In the [Metric] section find the "AutoId" setting.

        i.e. AutoId=C:\Sm9\MILL\JOSDEF\MAUTOID.FMT

Verify that the path is indeed correct to the specified file.

I did as you suggested. Still have the same problem.
Could there be something in an .ini file that is causing the problem?

Thanks for your help.

The file MAUTOID.FMT controls how the tool and operation descriptions are
generated for the Planner. According to the message it is now corrupt. For a
clues as to what happened You may want to check the date and time that the
file C:\SM9\MILL\JOSDEF\MAUTOID.FMT was last modified. This file is user
configurable and SmartCAM does not make any changes to this file on it's
own.

Fortunately the original defaults should still be in a backup file
"MAUTOID.OLD". Delete or rename the corrupt "MAUTOID.FMT" file. Then make a
copy of "MAUTOID.OLD" and rename it "MAUTOID.FMT". This should eliminate the
error.

Group,

I hope one of you can help me with a problem.
We are running Advanced 3-D Machining V10 on a Win98 Dell box. When we came
into work today and tried to open Smartcam a Diagnostics Window pops open
and the following error message appears.

UI: C:\SM9\SYSTEM\UIV3.DLL
Released with version 3.05 found 3.05
PF: C:\SM9\SYSTEM\PFV2.DLL
Released with version 2.03 found 2.03
LM: C:\SM9\SYSTEM\LMV3.DLL
Released with version 3.00 found 3.00
PFLIO: C:\SM9\SYSTEM\PFLIOV2.DLL
Released with version 2.02 found 2.02
ATOM: C:\SM9\SYSTEM\ATOMV2.DLL
Released with version 2.01 found 2.01
12028: Diagnostic from PREPROC():
  Failed to initialize.
12041: Fatal error in file C:\SM9\MILL\JOSDEF\MAUTOID.FMT
11502: The Job Operations Setup failed to initialize.
12028: Diagnostic from PREPROC():
  Failed to initialize.

After clicking on the OK button the application exits.

Any ideas?

The computer was left on all weekend and everybody swears they didn't touch
a thing.

I have ran a scan disk and defrag and there aren't any bad sectors on the
hard drive.

I have tried reloading Smartcam also and that didn't fix the problem either.

I'm stumped!
