I had started a project like this but never finished. I did get a tool path, just never machined it. Here is how I went about it.
This was for a Pennsylvania RR Logo.
Presuming the logo is in a raster graphics format (Bitmap, GIF or JPEG).
The first thing you need is a program that will read a raster based file of the logo and will let you trace lines and arcs over it and save it as a DXF file (or some other Vector based format that can be loaded into SmartCAM).
I used CAD Rail which is a model railroad design package. You should be able to accomplish this with Adobe Illustrator also. I just tried AutoCAD 2000 and that will work. Do an insert>raster image.
Polylines can be used in AutoCAD. Use what you've drawn as your tool path. Probably not the most precise method but it should work. Hope this helps.

Subject: [mfg-smartcam] Something new to me

Hi all! Happy St Pattys day to you.

Ive got a project here that ive never done before that maybe someone can help me with.

I need to scan a logo and import it into Smartcam to create toolpath.

(not going to be breaking the law by the way)

Can anyone give me a brief explanation on how that is done so I don’t have to waste a lot of time.

Smartcam 11.5

Thanks
