DON'T FORGET WE ARE AT THE BACKUP SITE!

You will not want to miss this talk! I've dug down deep into the Ubuntu
(aka Debian) distro to show all the powerful but not well know commands
Also contrary to my other nickname (GUI-Joe) this talk will be 85%
command line, building to a demonstration on how to rescue a system when
the admin makes fatal mistakes (been down that road many times).

Topic:
Advanced Ubuntu: What everyone needs to know about a Ubuntu/Debian System

Summary:
Moving to Linux from another Operating System is hard, but it can also
be frustrating moving from one Linux distro or Unix variant to Ubuntu.
This talk we will take a close look at the commands and procedures to
keep Ubuntu working and moving forward. Commands like apt, dpkg, sudo,
as well as others from the LSB (Linux Standard Base). This will not be
an overview of Ubuntu ( please see my Ubuntu presentation from last year
for that ). It will be a close look at command line tools as well as
there GUI equivalents to keep a Ubuntu system in shape.

Marist College
==============
Donnelly Room 106 has been set aside for alternate meeting space January
2, 2008. Donnelly Hall is the only giant round building on campus (
building #6 on the Marist map.), easiest to access from the South Gate.

There are a limited number of "Visitor" parking spots available in the
Donnelly lot, although visitors at 6pm are unlikely to get ticketed in
normal parking spaces. Virtually unlimited parking should also be
available in the "McCann/Sheahan" lot (the giant lot between #26 and #23
on the Marist Map). This lot is not ticketed in the early evening.

(Don't tell anyone, but the tickets at Marist are not New York State
tickets. You only have to pay if you get so many tickets that security
officers recognize your car and boot it. Unless you park in the "Gate
House" lot. Don't do that.)

The room is on the lower level, 25° off the main lobby counterclockwise.
That is to say, once you enter the main lobby of the building, go down
the staircase to the right, turn right, and look on the right-hand side
of the hallway.
