   A common problem (at least in the beginning) with cable modems was that 
they seemed to "get an attachment" for the device they first hand out an IP 
address to.  This shows up when you unplug the cable modem from a computer it 
was set up with to a router.  :-/
   Last I remember the recommended way to "fix it" was to disconnect the cable 
modem and turn it off for a period of time (of which I don't recall) and then 
to turn it on while plugged into the router you want to use.
