Re: Taking another look at Linux:

I have been following the discussion with great interest.

I began using PCś with the first IBM without hard drive ect.
and became quite adept at using the dos command line.
Since then I have used all MS version up to XP.

About ten years ago I was dissatisfied with MS problems and
tried SUSE Linux - it worked great without needing the command line.
I made the mistake of upgrading to version 10 :-( - I went to Mandrake -
didn't like it because it did not give me many choices. After trying
several other
distros I decided to BUY a distro - I liked Linux very much and was
willing to pay for it - I bought Lindows stayed with it into Linspire --
It always worked -
and when I did have a question there were answers to be had by opening
an incident report. Then they went to Version 6.0 based on Ubuntu and
things went rapidly downhill. Now I am running Ubuntu 10.8 after having
file corruption problems with 8.4

The problem is still the same as always -- getting reliable help
preferably in one place - without spending hours searching the net.

I would love to learn more about using command line commands. */If any
one knows of a course I could take I'd be interested. /*

They way it stands, I'll always be a newbie, albeit one who uses Linux
about 70% of the time.
