Hi again, everyone. I'm planning on buying a 1 TB external USB HD soon. Would anyone be able to suggest brands or models to recommend or to
avoid? Thanks very much in advance!

This is just an ordinary home system, nothing critical. The external HD
would be used mostly for virtual machines, downloads, and other data
that would only be accessed at my request (e.g. documentation, music).
My priorities, starting with the most important, are roughly:

        Works well under Linux
        Reliable, including good warranty
        Quiet
        Price (US $100-$150 or so)

Speed isn't terribly important, and appearance isn't important at all,
but quiet is important, or at least very quiet most of the time. Given local retail prices, I'm planning on getting it from NewEgg, but would consider other reliable vendors. Again, thanks in advance for anyone who can share their experiences!

Adam
