At the current latest Ubuntu, 8.10 aka Intrepid, I've been using my external
1Tb drive as a NTFS drive and been pounding on it for at least 6 months.
All is well, it's held up to all the heavy duty IO I've put it though. No
issues with read, wright, scan, etc.
