As a follow on to your question the other night, I saw this link fly by
- http://et.redhat.com/~rjones/virt-p2v/   That's a physical to virtual
machine converter by redhat, which should make linux virtualization
friendly formats.

If anyone gives it a try, let us know, it would be interesting to see
how well it's currently working.
