I fear virt-p2v assumes there's a UNIX-oid OS in the 
partition: "... root filesystem is critical because it 
contains /etc/fstab ..." which seems to exclude Windows.

It'll be a while before I get a round 'tuit for that, 
though, what with having to first set up a virtualization 
server, figure out how all the moving parts fit together, 
then try out virt-p2v on an unsuspecting Ubuntu partition.

Sounds like it'll keep me off the streets at night!
