I would suggest, if you have the time, read all of the Newegg customer reviews for the board you are considering. Even read the 5-egg (top rated) reviews because many of them have show-stoppers. I checked out a number of mid and upper range mobos with Intel chipsets on Newegg. I was surprised at the broad array of negative customer comments, much worse than other product categories. This includes boards that got glowing reviews. In fact, Anandtech posted an article several months ago bemoaning the widespread poor quality among new mobos. However, many of these negative comments come from overclockers, so they won't apply if you're not going to overclock.
You appear to have a preference for AMD. There was an article on Linux Weekly News a while ago recommending that Linux users should give preference to Intel over AMD because Intel has strongly supported open source. _______________________________________________ Mid-Hudson Valley Linux Users Group http://mhvlug.org http://mhvlug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mhvlug Upcoming Meetings (6pm - 8pm) MHVLS Auditorium Jul 1 - Linux High Performance Computing Aug 5 - TBD Sept 2 - Linux and HDTV
