As far as I know Tmobile is the only provider to sanction UMA calling. There were rumors that the cliq was going to be UMA enabled although I was not fond of the motoblur so I did not persue, call to verify.I would do it multiple times before you jump, as I find you will get whatever answer you want so they can make the sale. There are applications such as skype however they force you to use the data plan which kind of sucks with wifi freely available in most locals. I have a colleague who has had success with sipdroid <http://sipdroid.org/>. All the hardware is ready to rock and roll for UMA however it has not been fully developed as such , I feel that the open source community will have a solution way before "the suits" end up with one, much as in the case of google navigation and the G1.
